The Foundation’s support for scientific research is focused on two areas: the environment and neuroscience.
To promote environmental research, the Foundation has established the first Chair of Environmental Ethics in Spain at the University of Alcalá, and maintains an annual call for scholarship-contracts to carry out doctoral theses in this field.
A Spanish Neuroscience Support Plan has also been launched with the advice of a Scientific Neuroscience Committee made up of internationally renowned specialists.
The Plan is materialised in various actions, with continuity over time:
- The creation of a Chair of Neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
- The biannual call for grants to Neuroscience Research Projects for researchers who carry out their work in Spain.
- The annual call for predoctoral scholarships-contracts in the field of Neuroscience.
- Support for a project creating educational audio-visual materials about the human brain for teachers and educators.
The Foundation also sponsors a research project on cancer at the University of Alcalá.
